Today's topic will be about reproduction. First off we have Mitosis and Meiosis.Meiosis is sexual reproduction, while Mitosis is nonsexual reproduction that useally involes skin or bone cells.
Next we have male and female. The female will have the chromosome XX and will have the female sex cell that is and egg. The male will have the chromosome XY and have the sex cell that is the sperm. When combining these cells it gives you a 50 percent chance of being male or female. That means that if humans reproduced asexually then everyone would be female.
Now let's talk about the advantages and disadvantages to sexual and asexual reproduction. The advantage to sexual reproduction is the diversity in the gene pool, and that the species would be able to survive and adapt better the the environment.
YES! Let us take over the world my children!
An Advantage to asexual reproduction would be that a mate would not be needed. making it faster and easier to reproduce.
A disadvantage to sexual reproduction would be that it would take a lot longer. Therefore, the animals would have to be a lot chooser with their mates.
Are they a healthy mate?
A disadvantage to asexual reproduction would be that the animals would not have diverse genes. They would only be adapted to one environment so, one thing could kill off the whole population.
