  • "'Yo ho, my boys! No more work tonight, Christmas Eve, Dick. Christmas, Ebeneezer! Lets have the shutters up."'
  • In this Scene, Ebeneezer Scrooge and his nephew Fred are having an argument over Christmas cheer and Scrooge's cruel ways.  Scrooge believes that all poor people should not be happy. Although, Scrooge's nephew happens to be poor, and is much more happy than Scrooge, who is very wealthy and still very unhappy.

  • Nobody ever stopped him on the street to say, with gladsome looks, "My dear Scrooge, how are you? When will you come to see me?" 
  • Bob Cratchit and his family are very poor with hard living conditions. Tiny Tim is also very sick and upon death. Although despite the families hardships, they always find ways to be optimistic and spread love. The family is mot greedy and also spreads happiness everywhere. This relays the theme that money does not buy happiness.

  • Fezziwig is a very joyful and cheerful man. Unlike Scrooge, he was more forgiving towards people. Fezziwig would let Scrooge and his other apprentinces go home early for Christmas, and lit up a room with love.This shows the theme of this play was because even though he did not have many money, he was still able to be more forgiving than Scrooge.

  • Scrooge is a very cruel and selfish man who hoards his money. Scrooge is very rich even though he is unhappy and does not spread cheer. Scrooge plays a huge part in the theme in this play. Even though Scrooge is very wealthy, that does not make him instantly happy, and fulfill his life.
