  • At the Science Lab, the students should state the effects of different EM waves in our environment.
  • What are the effects of different EM waves in our environment?
  • Ma'am, I choose Radio waves. Radio waves can warm up the tissues. They are due to absorption of energy from the radio waves into the body.

  • Ma'am, I choose Microwaves. Microwaves can heat body tissue. Higher levels and long exposure can lead to skin burn.
  • Ma'am, I choose Infrared. Infrared waves can cause eye damage, skin damage and also involved in greenhouse effect.
  • Ma'am, I choose X-Ray. X-Ray is electromagnetic radiation of extremely short wavelength. The ionizing radiations penetrate the living tissues and can destroy living cells, chromosomal aberrations and carcinogenic effect
  • Ma'am, I choose Gamma-rays. Gamma-rays from space are absorbed by Earth's atmosphere. They can destroy living cells, produce mutations, and cause cancer.
