Brian's first sleep
Brian is thirsty
This water tastes disgusting!
Brian needs food
I need to find food!
The main character, Brian, is exhausted from the stress he had in the plane and the long swim he endured from the crash and falls asleep in the woods. This shows that although Brian is not familiar with the woods, he is so tired that he has no choice but to fall asleep in the grasses and hope to survive the night.
Brian wakes up from his sleep and is immediately thirsty so he decides to look for water. He stumbles across a lake and decides to drink it. Later, Brian feels very sick and throws up all of the water. Although he threw up, this scene makes Brian lose his thirst and helps with the pain in his head.
I chose this scene as significant because after Brian recovers from drinking the lake water, he realizes that he needs food also. Brian begins to think what he should do to get food. This scene shows the reader that Brian is persistent and hard-working. This is important for the reader to know because it gives hope that if Brian never gives up, he will survive in the woods, even if he is not found.
