Shukumar was coming home from work. The house was still full of memories of when he and Shoba were still together.
Suddenly, his phone rings.
He's shocked to see that the one calling him is Shoba. He hasn't heard from her in a while now.
It's been a while...
He was hesitant to answer the phone but still did. He wanted to ask and tell her so many things that he ended up not knowing what to say to her.
"Hey" Shoba said with so much hope, as if it was a promise of return, or a chance to rekindle something that was once lost. Shukumar recognizes the voice of his wife, and before he even had the words, Shoba was standing behind him.
Their eyes met and the empty house felt like home. Love looks different now, but still feels the same. He wasn't sure if her return was a temporary matter, but for sure her place in his life wasn't a mere electricity disruption nor a confession that can be forgotten. She was never a temporary matter. She has always marked permanence; in their home and in his life.
