Sargeant Major Morris tells the White family about brave war stories after he is welcomed into their home. He also tells them the tale of the monkey's paw.
When Morris leaves he gives the monkey's paw to the white family.Morris mentioned the family would be punished it they messed with it.They were then excited that they could make wishes.
Mr. White wishes to pay off his mortgage so he asks for 200 pounds. He then senses the paw move which makes him suspicious about if it's powers are really "good". Mr. and Mrs. White's son Herbert leaves for work shortly after.
The whites find a visitor at the door who informs them that Herbert was killed at work today. The visitor offers the family 200 pounds for his services which seems a coincidence for the whites.
Days after their sons death Mrs. White gets the idea to wish for their son back. Mr. White insists that its a bad idea and could send them ingto more bad karma. Mrs. White then says she hears something at the door.
Mrs. White then goes to answer the door as Mr. White goes to look for the monkey paw, when Mrs. White opens the door she discovers that nothing is there mysterically.
