On page 68 of the " Last Man Out", Tommy has frequent flashbacks of the game that his father was pronounced dead during because his specific action to keep staring at the top left hand corner. I chose this scene because it displays the change in Tommy's play even though he swore to never have a cheap shot on any player in the game. It also shows his struggle in the attempt in staying calm because every minute he thinks of his dad he grows angry, creating the main internal conflict, which is the act of keeping himself composed.
On page 80, Tommy make another mistake by disagreeing with his coach and he decided to blitz instead of by a zone cover, which is something Tommy never did even if the call was terrible. All he wanted to do was just hit someone as hard as he could, which to is against his dad's word. I chose this because if clearly displays Tommy's struggle because he keeps detrimenting his football career and his respect on the field with this constant misconduct. Also, it shows that Tommy will have to overcome and regroup to perform as his expectation and to please his father even though he not present.
On page 82, Tommy is benched for his repeatedly misconducts and isolates himself from everybody. Also, people leave him alone because they don't even know him anymore, and he costed them "the game." I choose this scene because it empowers to the reader that a change in one's life can effect them in so many ways, but only the strong are able to still remember in a way they still enjoy themselves. Tommy needs to become stronger than his dad ever was and needs compose himself in order to take care of the household and his team.
