In the introduction of the lottery we are introduced to family's like the summer's, the hutchinson's, the dunbar's, the delacroix's, and the watson's. these family's live in a small village, and on a June day, like any other they are having a lottery.
During the rising action the reader keeps pondoring about who will win the lottery, but we are introduced to another called Old man warner who wants to keep doing the lottery because he wants to stay with tradition, but the main reason they do the lottery is because when the do it it gives them a better harvest.
In the climax of the story we find out who the winner is, and it was Bill Hutchinson, but that couldn't be it cause he didn't have time to enter, so he was selected for the lottery winner. So the town was mad, mad at Mrs. Hutchinson for selecting Bill.
During the falling action, the characters ponder more and more about the situation, but then the children just start laughing and having fun about the situation.
In the end all of the characters (including the children) start grabbing rocks, then, Mrs. Hutchinson meets her fait, thanks to the town.
In the end we figure out the theme, which is when the tradition is outdated, but it is still important to preserve the past.
