Storyboard Text

  • The kids were gathering rocks while the other people in the village started to gather in the square to begin the lottery.
  • Once everyone was in the square the lottery began with Mr. Summers carrying the black box through the crowd of townspeople with Mr. graves following him with a chair. Then he stirred the papers inside it.
  • When Mr. Summers finally stopped talking, Mrs. Hutchinson came hurriedly along the path to the square. She stopped and explained to Mrs. Delacroix why she was late.
  • They started the lottery after they figured out who was going to draw for Mr. Dunbar since he broke his leg and wasn't able to come. Mr. Summers started to call the names and everyone who was going to draw went up and drew a card.
  • Once everyone had a card, Mr. Summers said to open the cards. The person that had a dot on their card was Mr. Hutchinson. After quite a bit of talking, the family went up to the front. When they opened their cards, Mrs. Hutchinson had the dot on her card.
  • Everyone gathered around her in the square and picked up the rocks the kids had gotten earlier, and started to throw them at her.
