Week 1 - Pages 1-30 of "Marley and Me" by John Grogan
This storyboard does not have a description.
John and Jenny Arrive at the Dog Farm
"We were driving through inky blackness"
"[There was] a pond in front of the house and a small barn out back"
Looking at the Pups
"'Aw, honey, the little guy's on clearance!"'
"We are perfect for him and he is perfect for us!"
An Unexpected Purchase
"We'll take him!"
"You are going to love him, he is a great dog!"
John and Jenny approach the dog breeder's house located in a farmland area that is not easy to find. The couple is very excited but they plan to just be looking for today.
The couple head inside to see the litter of puppies. Although some of them have been bought, there are a few to choose from. One, however, sticks out to both Jenny and John and the puppy "seemed smitten" with the two, jumping all over them. As a bonus, this pup was on sale (something that Jenny loves).
I chose this scene as significant because it sets up the plot for the rest of the story. It shows who Marley, the main character, will be (the new dog) and it shows the go with the flow personalities of Jenny and John. I also feel like this moment will be looked back on at times in the story and it will be a crucial event in the lives of the characters.
