Storyboard Text

  • The king, Minos, locked Daedalus away in a tower because he showed the great hero, Theseus, how to escape from his Labyrinth . Eventually, Daedalus escaped with his son Icarus.
  • Daedalus, not seeing any other way off the island,  created wings for his son and him, out of wax and feathers. sadly, Icarus flew too close to the sun, his wings melted, and he plummeted into the ocean.
  • Icarus died, and Daedalus took him to an island to be buried. Daedalus went to Sicily and offered his wings as a sacrifice to the god Apollo.
  • On the wedding day of Orpheus and Eurydice, Eurydice dies of a horrible snake bite. Orpheus is very upset about the loss of his love, so he goes to the Underworld, with Zeus's consent, to try and bargain with Hades and get Eurydice back.
  • Well in the underworld, Orpheus' beautiful music entranced all the creatures guarding the king of the Underworld, Hades.  He quickly slipped through to talk to Hades, he asked him if Eurydice could come back up to earth with him. Hades said yes, but well he is leaving, he may not turn to see if she is following him, for if he does, she may not return. So, he started back up towards earth, and on the last step he turned and saw Eurydice fall back down to the Underworld.
  • Orpheus went back up to earth and refused to ever love another again. Many women were upset by this, so they killed him. He once again walked with Eurydice, this time looking back on her as often as he liked.
