During the summer of 2018, I attended summer camp at church. Everything was good until my friends started avoiding me. Turns out that there were rumors going around about me.
Although I thought they would go away if I stayed quiet, they didn't. The rumors got so bad, I almost thought about quitting camp. I knew that this wasn't going to solve the problem though, so I decided to take matters into my own hands.
Because I knew the rumors won't stop, I decided to turn my attention to music. I started exploring a wide variety of music, and getting lost in it helped me take my mind off the drama I was going through.
Another thing I did to help myself was writing. After the rumors had started, I started writing in a journal to gather my thoughts and feelings. It gave me hope that everything would be fine in the end, and the more I wrote, the more I started to believe in it.
The rumors kept going on afterwards, but had changed inside. Although I could feel evil glares coming my way from my old friends, I didn't pay attention to them. Instead, I paid attention to my new friendships.
Life can be hard, and so can middle school. Whenever hard times come my way, I remember back to this event and remind myself to not lose hope that everything will be okay.
