The second amendment was originally made so people in the U.S. could carry guns so the government could easily form a military if need, and so people could hunt and protect themselves and their families.
Recently people have proposed changes to the second amendment because of how powerful guns have become, and because of how easy it is for civilians to get military grade weapons.
