The Devil and Tom Walker
By: Jahnna Brown and Obieze Udemadu
After a long day of exploring different parts of his neighborhood, Tom Walker decided to take a shortcut back home through a dark forest.
Tom Walker stumbled across an abandoned Indian fort and met an old, black man by the name of "Old Scratch." Old Scratch offered to give Tom treasure under certain conditions. Before he leaves, Old Scratch leaves a black mark on Tom's forehead.
Tom Walker tells his wife about the offer he was made by the Old Scratch and tells her he was not planning on taking the deal. She decides to take matters into her own hands.
Toms's wife desperately wanted the treasure all to herself so she continually went to Old Scratch attempting to bribe him but he refused.
Tom Walker was out searching for his wife when he found her remains tied to a tree. However, Walker, who was more concerned about the loss of his property, claimed that Old Scratch had done him a favor.
