  • Virginia Plan
  • What did Virginia want in this plan?
  • Virginia wanted a strong Government with three branches. They Also feared that larger states would have more representatives. 
  • New Jersey Plan
  • What did New Jersey want in this plan? 
  • New Jersey wanted the support of the smaller states, Also, they only wanted one house of representatives. 
  • The Great Compromise
  • I, Roger Sherman from Conneticut come to a conclusion where both states can come to a compromise. Both states shall have two houses, a lower house or house of representatives and an upper house or senate. 
  • Northern States
  • Since enslaved people do not vote, we believe that they should not be considered population. Also they are legally considered property
  • Southern States
  • We here in the South believe that enslaved people shall count in the states population because that would give our states more representatives
  • The 3/5 Compromise
  • The North and South came to an agreement by each enslaved person would count as 3/5th of a person.
