In 1849 gold was found in California. I left my home to try to get rich, work, and adventure.

People died in the deserts of thirst, some tried to go to California by sea but they faced months of rotten food, seasickness, disease, and boredom.When I got to California there were many hardships including not finding gold after making a long Journey to get there, using picks and shovels to mine, searching in cold water, and how many other people there were.
The California gold rush started in 1849 when a gold nugget was found in a ditch. Sutter, the person who found the gold nugget tried to keep it a secret but the word spread like wildfire. Multiple people left their home to try and get rich and in seek of work. But the Journey was long and dangerous some traveled by wagon, others went by sea. If you went by wagon multiple died in the long hot deserts from thirst,
or if they did make it there were multiple other hardships like not finding gold after making the long Journey to, using picks and shovels to mine, searchinging in cold water, and how many other people there were. If you went by sea there was months of rotten food, seasickness, disease, and boredom. The Journey could also take up to six months.
