Storyboard Text

  • Proclamation of 1763
  • You are not allowed to move west of the Appalachian mountains!
  • The Stamp Act 1765
  • Stamps are being taxed now. Your printed items need stamps!
  • Boston Massacre-1770
  • Fire!
  • This proclamation banned colonists from moving west of the Appalachian Mountains. This allowed the British to own the colonists.
  • The Tea Act/Boston Tea Party 1773
  • Quick! Throw the tea into the harbor!
  • This act says that all printed item needs a stamp. The British taxed the stamps that the colonists bought. The colonists did not like this act.
  • The Intolerable Acts 1774
  • You must obey the new Coercive Acts
  • These acts are terrible!
  • The colonists were throwing and shouting at the British. The British started firing and killed a few colonists. This was known as the Boston Massacre. 
  • The First Continental Congress 1774
  • The Tea Act lets the British sell tea to the colonist. When the boat of tea came, colonists dressed up as Indians and threw the tea into the Boston Harbor. This was known as the Boston Tea Party. 
  • After the Boston Tea Party, the new British prime minister made the Coercive Acts. The colonists did not like the acts, and decided to call them the Intolerable Acts.
  • This was the first meeting where colonists came together. This was the first governing body of America. They were meeting  to decide what to do with the Coercive Acts.
  • What should we do about the Intolerable Acts?
