- Frederick Douglass is at Mr. and Mrs. Auld's house and is living a life better than a slave, and being treated like a second son. " Hey Frederick could you watch over Tommy".
- Mrs. Auld asked Frederick if he knew how to read. " Hey can you read". Frederick replied with a no. "Ok Frederick, let's start with the A,B,C's". Frederick went straight from the a,b,c's to reading books with Mrs. Auld
- Mrs. Auld feels that they have improved, so they wanted to show Mr. Auld. " Hey Mr. Auld look what we have learned." They started to show Mr. Auld what they have learned.
- Mr. Auld goes crazy over her teaching frederick Douglass to read, and after he gets mad he states why you should never teach a slave to read. He said, " You should never teach a slave to read because it is like teaching a slave a way to escape. Teaching a slave to read is basically giving them freedom."
- After Ms.Auld gets caught she completely changed into a different person. Frederick described her as changing from an angel to a complete devil. After this frederick knew exactly what he was going to do.
- Frederick was out and he brought his books outside of the home so he could learn from other poor white boys. He exchanged bread for reading time. This is the end of the story, thanks for reading.
