  • Right now during 1756-1763, there is a war going on between the French and the British.  
  • Ohio River Valley
  • Britain controlled the Thirteen Colonies, whilst France controlled territory in Canada. They both wanted the land in the Ohio River Valley and beyond. .
  • Many of the French married the natives.
  • The French were friendly with the Native Americans, trading metals and other goods for furs. 
  • The British had different views though, and regarded the natives as "savages". A lot of conflicts had happened already between them.
  • The French also fought with its other allies, Austria, Saxony, Sweden, and Russia. The British fought with their allies, Prussia and Hanover.
  • Britain won the war! They made a treaty with France to acquire a lot of territory in Canada, which we know they eventually lost. The colonists were very happy about that.
