Storyboard Text

  • I like looking at graves.
  • I think the process they go through to become what they are today is very interesting.
  • They start off deep in the mantle as molten material, or magma. As the magma starts to cool, it forms an igneous rock.
  • Many graves are made from an igneous rock called granite.
  • As the rocks weather, they break down into smaller peices called sediments.
  • These sediments get moved, or eroded, and then dropped off in deposits.
  • These deposited sediments then compact and cement into sedimentary rocks.
  • Limestone is  a common sedimentary rock used to make graves.
  • As heat and pressure is added to the rock, it changes, or morphs.
  • One metamorphic rock used for graves is sandstone.
  • It is now a metamorphic rock.
  • All of these rocks can be totally melted down to lava.
  • Just like all of these rocks can be used to make graves.
