  • Proclamation of 1763
  • You may not pass the Appalachian Mountains!
  • Stamp Act-1765
  • Has someone taxed your items?
  • Boston Massacre-1770
  • Fire!
  • King George III issues Proclamation of 1763 that forces all colonists out of the  Ohio River Valley and banishes British settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains.
  • Boston Tea Party-1773
  • Dump everything overboard!
  • Prime Minister Grenville proposes the Stamp Act. The act places a tx on every stamp, or seal, when people of the colonies buy paper items.
  • Intolerable Acts-1774
  • The colonists must be punished for what they have done!
  • A fight breaks out between many Bostonians and British troops. A British troop is provoked by a colonist, which leads him to strike the colonist and fire. Many other shots are fired and five men are killed.
  • First Continental Congress-1774
  • We mustn't let the British take advantage of us!
  • On December 16, colonists disguised as Indians sneak onto the three ships that are docked at the Boston Harbor. They dump all of the tea overboard as a form of boycott over the Tea Act.
  • The new British prime minister, Lord North, is very upset when he hears about the Boston Tea Party. Parliament then decides to punish the colonists for their actions, and passes the Coercive Acts.  
  • On October 5, delegates from 12 of the 13 colonies meet at Carpenter's Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in response to the "Intolerable Acts".
