  • The Proclamation of 1763
  • That's not fair!
  • You  may not settle west of the Appalachian Mountains
  • The Stamp Act (1764)
  • You can't tax us, we don't have any representatives!
  • You have to pay tax on legal documents,licenses, newspaper, pamphlets, and playing cards
  • Boston Massacre (1770)
  • Stop taxing us!
  • This was important because it was the start of the many chain of events that led up to the Revolution.
  •                The Boston Tea Party (1773)
  • Take that, Britain!
  • The tax on all paper products made the colonist very mad. They believed they shouldn't be taxed with representation, for they had no say in the act. 
  • The Intolerable Acts (1774)
  • We won't stand for this!
  • The Boston Massacre was a major event in Boston. A group of colonist surrounded British soldiers, angry about all the taxes. They started attacking the soldiers and they fired into the crowd. Killing five people. 
  • The First Continental Congress (1774)
  • The colonist were angry that Britain banned all smuggling and taxed tea, so they dressed up like Native Americans and dumped the tea into the harbor. The  British were furious.
  • Britain passed the Intolerable Acts. This act closed the Boston Harbor, canceled the Massachusetts charter, and took away most of the colonists rights.
  • The colonist, mad at the British for the Intolerable Acts. All came together, except for Georgia , in Philadelphia. This is where they agreed to the idea of a revolution.
  • The British can't do this anymore! We need to form our own country!
