A mob of colonists were rioting against the new laws and acts that were passed because they had to pay more taxes. During this mob, the British redcoats fired their guns and 5 of the colonists were killed, including Crispus Attuks.
The Townshead Acts
There was a tea act that was placed in 1773 on tea making the tea cost less but it raises taxes. This angered the colonists which then they lead the sons of liberty onto the tea ships and they all dumped tea into the Boston Harbor.
First Continental Congress
The intolerable acts or best known as the coercive acts was set in place in 1774 which passes laws such as no more town meetings, the Boston harbor was now closed, and they passed the quartering acts, which is where colonists had to house troops whenever they needed it.
The townshead acts were placed in 1767 and it taxed everyday goods like lead, glass, paper, paints, and tea.
