Storyboard Text

  • On a clear and sunny day slaves planted me in the ground.
  • On the plantation, I could see and hear that the plantation owner treated his slaves very  badly.
  • (Gullah)
  • As I grew  I consistently heard the slaves speaking their language called Gullah.
  • On the plantation, it always smelt like moist earth. This is because of all the cash crops growing and being harvested.
  • In the fields their were many rice plants around me. On breezy days the all of us would brush up against each other.
  • Hey Guys!
  • Goodbye rice.
  • Once harvested, we were packed into crates and shipped off to Barbados. We were sold to make the plantation  rich.
