Ethan seemed to be a lot more hurt than they thought. When he escaped the fire and got his leg smashed under something he could remove it. It was completely broken, so the ambulance people picked him up in a stretcher rushed him to the hospital. "More people brought over a bed on wheels and lifted the boy gently onto it." Bailey said.
After a long time in the hospital Bailey(Ethan's dog) finally reunites with Ethan. But, Ethan seems very sad because he's lonely and can't play on his football team anymore. Bailey doesn't know what to do so he tries everything to make him happy again. "It wasn't just his leg that hurt. A mournful sadness drifted off of him, and sometimes a gloomy anger flared when all he was doing was sitting still, looking out the window." I shoved my head under his arm, but he didn't even lift a hand to pet me." Bailey said.
After a while of not being able to do anything or hangout with anyone, Ethan is finally healed! "Ethan looked down at me. Slowly, he grinned. It had been months since I'd seen a grin like that on his face...... For the first time in a long time I could tell my boy was happy." I read pages 175 to 195. I think these scenes are significant because they occurred the most and stood out to me out of all the pages I read.
