The Proclamation of 1763 was a law passed by the British government that told the colonists they could not move past the Appalachian Mountains. Many were forced to abandon their homes and move. They did this to people because they wanted to avoid conflict with the Indians.

The Stamp Act was a law that required colonists to pay for stamps or seals when they bought paper items. People who refused to pay the tax were fined or sent to jail. The colonists started to protest almost immediately. Many refused to buy the stamps. Many colonial courts shut down since people refused to buy stamps required for all the legal documents.
Intolerable Acts of 1774
The Boston Massacre was a event that took place on March 5th 1770 between colonists and British soldiers when the colonists were throwing things at the soldiers. The soldiers heard someone in the crowd yell "Come on you rascals...Fire if you dare!" And thinking their officer had told them to fire they began to fire into the crowd of colonists.
The First Continental Congress of 1774
The colonists were mad because they had no say in the taxes being raised on tea. The taxes were raised and the colonists started to protest it so they stopped drinking tea. Then they dressed up as Indians and got on a boat that held the tea and they dumped it. This was called the Boston Tea Party in 1773.
The British called these set of laws the Coercive Acts. The Boston Harbor was closed until the tea was paid for, The Massachusetts's charter was canceled. Colonists were forced to house British soldiers, Massachusetts was given a new governor. Officials accused of crimes went to Britain for a trial to get a softer jury and judge.

The First Continental Congress of 1774 was a meeting between 12 out of 13 colonies. 13 of them were supposed to be there but only 12 of them showed up. They were meeting to discuss the Intolerable Acts and the new taxes.
