So what you are saying is I just fought a war for this land but I may not settle it?!
This tea is Bitter!
I know, but sugar is so expensive after the Sugar Act.
The proclamation bans people from settling West of the Appalacian Mountains. This made the colonists mad because they just fought a war for this land. Many colonists ignore the order and settle anyway.
Boston Tea Party
No more tea tax!
In 1764 King George put a tax on sugar. It started the first real defiance of the british in the form of smuggling.
The british where trying to control an angry mob that was throwing things and yelling. One soldier hears "FIRE" and they all shoot after him. Paul Revear imortalized this in his highly unrealistic engraving, which helped to rally the colonists.
First Continental Congress
One night several members of The Sons Of Liberty sneeked onto a ship and dumped millions of dollars of tea into the harbor. This was to protest the tea act. This was also the cause of the intolerable acts.
After the boston tea party boston harbor was closed. This was a big deal because the harbor was one of the wealthiest. All town meetings where also closed and a standing army was stationed in the town.
The harbor is closed due to last night's incedents. You also can't have town meetings and all power will go to the governer.
