"'Please,' he gasped, 'take some of the pain.'" This was a good choice for the play because this is an important memory that Jonas receives. Without this memory the scene when they play the war game this memory becomes important because Jonas is reminded about this horrible memory.
"Overwhelmed by pain, he lay there in the fearsome stench for hours, listened to the men and animals die, and learned what warfare meant." This scene made sense in the play because when Jonas was on the floor it shows what Jonas feeling about the memory. When he is getting the memory he is being dramatic because he is watching people die and he can't really do anything about it. He can't try to save their lives.
"Finally, when he knew that he could bear it no longer and would welcome death himself, he opened his eyes and was once again on the bed." This scene was okay because it shows that Jonas was more relieved when the memory was over.
