Storyboard Text

  • Fire
  • Help
  • Escape
  • On paragraph 1 I can envision Chaos/Fire. In the text is states, "We will never know for sure what started the Triangle Fire, Most likely a cutter flicked a hot ash or tossed live cigarette but into a scrap bin." In the first sentence, "We will never know for sure what started the Triangle Fire." By just reading this sentence i can see people running for their lives because of a fire.
  • Useless
  • On paragraph  3 it states, "Seconds later, the fire leaped out of control,  Yet help was already on the way  at exactly 4:45 p.m., someone pulled the eighth-floor fire alarm . In less than two minutes, the horse-drawn vehicles  of  Engine Company 72 arrived from a  firehouse   six blocks away.  The moment they arrived,  the firefighters unloaded  their equipment and prepared to swing into action.
  • Under Control
  • On paragraph 6 it states, "Workers, shouting, crying, and gasping for air, slowly made their way downstairs, there were lights i the stairways, so they had to grope their way in darkness, a girl fell: others fell on top of her, blocking the stairs until firefighters arrived moments later. I can envision people having a hard time getting out of the building because of the smoke, they are gasping for air, and people falling; no lights in stairways.
  • Comparison To:
  • On paragraph 12 it states,   "Hoping to catch jumpers before they hit the ground, firefighters held up life nets, sturdy ten-foot-square nets made a rope. It was useless. A person falling from the ninth floor struck with a force equal to eleven thousand pounds. Some jumpers bounced off the nets, dying when they hit the ground; others tore the nets, crashing through to the pavement. I can envision people jumping of buildings and falling into the nets; yet the net still doesn't hold for all the people who jumped.
  • On paragraph 14 it states, "By 5:15 P.M., exactly thirty-five minutes after flames burst from beneath a cutting table, firefighters had brought the blaze under control . An hour later, Cheif Croker made his inspection. He found that the Asch Building had no damage to its structure. Its walls were in good shape; so were the floors. It had pass the test; Its FireProof. By reading this paragraph, I envisioned the inspection and envisioned everything under control.
  • To me this story was a comparison to the 9/11 scene. I could see the flames bursting out of the building, also the people jumping out of the building. In my opinion I believe that these scenes are similar to the 9/11 disaster because of everything that was going on. The people jumping out of the buildings because they had no other way of  escaping from the building which created pain the many families, and the lack of peoples death.
