  • Blaming people to find a scapegoat will lead to violence
  • I think that blaming people trying to find a scapegoat will lead to violence is the theme because they were all just saying you are the monster because they did not want the attention to be on them. An example of this would be when Les Goodman neighbor would come outside in the middle of the night and just stare at the sky. Since he was doing this everybody thought that he was coming outside so that he would communicate to the aliens so everybody was turning into a mob to converge to his house. Another example of this would be when Charlie shot Pete van Horne when he had come out of nowhere charlie shot him thinking that he was the monster. In addition to that, they thought he was the monster because he shot Pete van Horne and he could have been coming to tell them who the monster was like Charlie so they thought that he was trying to hide information that he may of have. My last example is when Charlie had accused Tommy of being the monster because he had known some of the information about when the monsters will come and what they would do all from reading a comic book about aliens. And at the end they were still trying to blame it on each other when there lights come on saying it's Steve or it's Don still trying to accuss each other This is what trying to find a scapegoat does to people they will just try and put the blame on anybody and everybody that they can possible.
  • They are suspicious of Les because he would come out in the middle of the night and just stare at the sky so they expected him to talk to aliens
  • It's not my fault
