Salva was leaving school and he saw his school on fire and the sky filled with black smoke. He saw people running so he ran and he didn't know that he would be separated from his family.
He walked and walked and saw a refugee camp, he didn't know where he fit in at because there was the militia and men then the women, elderly, and children.
After walking during the day, they found a barn where they were going to sleep that night. When Salva woke up he soon realized he was all ALONE! They left him by himself..
After being left at the barn alone he had found other lost boys. He had been chosen to be the leader of a walk with 1,500 lost boys just like him.
The lost boys had found a safety camp, Camp Ethiopia and Camp Kenya. When reaching the camp there was only 1,000 boys left, many boys had died from dehydration, diseases, and more. After being there for almost a year he soon went to the US.
When Salva went to the US he had found out his father was sick, and it was because of the dirty water in Sudan. That inspired him to drill wells for clean water in Sudan. The first place he drilled a well was at his dads village.
