  • Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
  • Illustrated by: Renci Tesorero
  • Translated By: Marie Borroff
  • One New Years' night, a knight appeared on King Arthur's court. This was no ordinary night for he is the color of green.
  • So this is the famous city of Camelot.
  • Everone was shocked when they saw the knight. The knight simply came to play a game. But when no one accepted his game, he taunted them and this made King Arthur furious. When King Arthur was about to chop his head, Sir Gawain, his nephew, stopped him in order to take his place.
  • I came in peace and eager to play a game lest everyone is afraid?
  • Such Hubris! Give that ax!!
  • My King no... I will do it instead
  • As the knight's head rolled through the floor, the body stayed up strait. To everyone's surprise, the knight's body picked up the head and went to his horse.
  • Do not forget about the Rule Sir Gawain. You must seek me at the green chapel by the next New Year lest you are a coward.
  • Almost a year had passed; Sir Gawain sought out to find the Green Chapel and meet the Green Knight. He was equiped with the finest clothing and weaponries in all of Camelot
  • I must find the Green Knight.
  • To Sir Gawain's luck, he found a castle hidden in the woods. The lord invited him to stay and told him that the chapel is not far from here. Gawain accepted and they feasted for the night.
  • The lord of this castle might know where the chapel is.
