One thing that caused WWI is Nationalism. Nationalism is devotion to your country.
Another cause of the war was that on June 28, 1914 a Serbian assassin shot and killed Archduke Francis Ferdinand, the heir to the throne of Austria-Hungary.
One main event of WWI was Trench warfare. Trench warfare was a style of fighting in which both parties dug trenches and fought.
Another main event of WWI was the invention of the machine gun, a fully automatic weapon that cut down soldiers as they rushed each others trenches.
One effect of WWI was the Treaty of Versailles, which was the final peace treaty of World War I. It forced the Germans to accept the blame of starting WWI.
Another affect of WWI was its affect on European borders, some country's became independent and others were brand new.
