Haden Edwards was epresario that got a contract for land near Nacogdoches from the Mexican government. He would be able to settle 800 people.The one thing he could not do was charge the people that already lived there, but he did. Then his son-in-law was elected alcalde, some people saw fraud. So his contract was closed in October 1826 by Mexico. After that he, his siblings, and supporters established their Declaration of Independence.
Battle of Gonzales
In 1800 Davis Bradburn and his troops built a fort at the mouth of the Trinity R. The fort was called Anahuac, and they would enforce trade. Then Texans got made because he arrested Francisco Madero. After the government was moved to Anahuac George Fisher all ships had to pay customs duties. Then William B. Travis and Patrick Jack came in spring 1832. Then they got arrested for antagonizing Bradburn. So all the Texans got enraged.
Battle of the Alamo
After the conflict at Anahuac was over, John Austin and his group set off from Brazoria to help with the conflict. When they reached Velasco, Colonel Domingo de Ugartechea refused to let them pass. Then on June 26, 1832 fighting broke out, but after three days of battle Mexican troops ran out of ammo, and they had to surrender. Many people had been killed on both sides. When they got to Anahuac the conflict was over.
Battle of San Jacinto
General Domingo de Ugartechea was mad because the people of Gonzales wounld not give the cannon back they gave to DeWitt. Ugartechea sent troops to go and get it. Gonzales grew to a militia of 180 people. On October 1 the people got the wagon and put it on a wagon, and went to attack the Mexican force. Also to taunt them, they made a flag that said come and take it. On October 2, 1835 the battle started and ended, and the people of Gonzales won.
Come and take it
On March 6, 1836 the battle started. About 5:00 am four columns of Mexican soldiers were came, but halted by Texas artillary. Then by the hundreds Mexican troops entered the Alamo, and they stole a cannon and fired it inward. Hand combat came next. All of the Texan defenders were killed during the battle.
On the morning of April 21, 1836 Sam Houston assembled 900 troops. Then on that afternoon they deiced to attack the 1,200 Mexican solders. So at 3:00 they attacked defeated the Mexican army in just 18 mins. Only 9 Texas soldiers had been killed, and 630 Mexican soldiers had been killed
