Haden Edwards got his empreario contract from the mexican government in 1825.The contract gave him permission to settle some 800 families near nacogdoches. When he arrived, Edwards found that a number of mexican families living on the land for years.They had become know as the old settler. Haden Edward's contract required him to respect the property rights of all settlers who had legal titles to there land.

The sweeping law of April 6, 1830 was intended to strictly control the American presence in texas.It banned immigration from the united states and made it illegal. The law also suspended unfilled empresario contracts. Only a few American empresario including stephen F. Austin and Green DeWitt, were allowed to keep their contract.
Battle of san jacinto
Travis sent a lot of people for help bonham left to go get help and he tryed to skeak back in on march 3.the volunmteers from gonzals rode into the Alamo they were led by captain Albert Martain. they sneaked in under cover early in the morning there was about 200 hunder soldiers defending the Alamo. santa anna had at least 1,800 troops Travis sent letters to washington on the Brazos. At 5:00Am four mexicn soldiers attacked but they were halted by Texas the mexican forces regrouped the four cloumns were overhelmed by the texans.
Some Goliad Massacre during the smoky confusion Francita Alavez who was travieling with the mexican troops helped a few people a escape. several texans troops openly rebelled against houston criticzing him for retreating from santa anna. they belived he was acting like a coward.Even president Burnet challenged houston. houston igorned criticism when he head that santa anna was jared groce's plantation.
Hoiuston 's people moved fast to get harrisburg from there they travealed. down buffalo bayou to where it met san jacinto. in april 20 the texans camped. the mexican could attack them would be to cross the feild.santa anna and his forces arrived at the junction of the san jacinto.they set up camp in a vulneralbe spot santa anna forces were exposed to the texans troops who were partilly.
