Rome and Carthage were involved. The Romans felt threatened by the Carthaginians. They also wanted Sicily's granaries. Even though it was a navy battle, Rome won, because they added a corvus to their ships. A corvus is a movable bridge. When a Roman ship got close to a Carthaginian ship, they would drop the corvus down onto the ship. Soldiers would walk across onto the enemy ship. After the Romans won, them and the Carthaginians made peace.
Rome and Carthage were involved again. The Carthaginians tried to attack Rome, but they couldn't get inside their walls. Rome went down and attacked Carthage. They lost all their power. Carthage paid Rome a lot of money and gave them all their territories and resources.
After almost 50 years of peace, Carthage was starting to gain power again. Rome felt threatened. They burned Carthage to the ground and put salt in the fields so that crops couldn't grow.They killed the Carthaginians or sold them into slavery.
