Haden Edwards was given a contract to settle with 800 families he had.When he got there he was got stingy and told the people that had been there for more than 100 years to pay him land taxes.Even tho the empresario that gave him the land,told him to leave the people that were already there alone.Since the people didn't like him doing that they complained to the goverment so the goverment sent Stephen F. Austin and his Mexican troops.
Battle of the Alamo
The law of April 6, 1830 was made because the American influence was getting to strong. It also banned settlers from the U.S. from coming in and it made it illegal to bring slaves in.The law also stopped unfilled empresario contracts.But only some empresarios like Stephen F. Austin and Green Dewitt got to keep their contracts.Also to keep people from sneaking over they built military bases on the border.
The Goliad Massacre
Not knowing that the conflict at Anahuac was done with,John Austin's men loaded their cannon on a boat at Brazoria. Soon enough they reached Velasco, it was close to the beginning of the Brazos River. Colonel de Ugartechea the leader of the Mexican troops at Velasco, didn't let the people the pass. On June 26, 1832 they started to fight. About three days later, the Mexican soldiers ran out of ammunition and head too surrender
Battle of San Jancinto
About 5:00 morning Santa Anna's soldiers attacked the Alamo.But they were stopped by the Texas artillery.Then when Mexican troops regrouped,all of Santa Anna's troops overwhelmed the Texans.All of the Mexican troops when't in by the hundreds.Then went to hand-to-hand combat. After fighting for a bit the smoked fell.Not all bot most of the defenders were dead,the only ones left were Travis,Crockett, and a couple other people.
Several wounded and outnumbered badly James Fannin decided to surrender. Fannin and his troops were marched back to Goilad. As soon as they got there imprisoned and they were held for a week in prison. Urrea wrote too Santa Anna, asking him for permission to hold the prisons as POW's or kill them. Not even thinking about it Santa Anna told him too kill them. So that's what he did, and after they killed them their were about 400 Texans killed.
On April 20, the Texans camped in a grove oak trees on a piece of high ground. Santa Anna and his soldiers arrived in San Jancinto on a juction near the San Jancinto River. When they got their decided to set up camp in an open spot. Santa Anna and his troops were in vulnerable spot. Santa Anna did not know that the Texan troops were hiding, so they went sleep not thinking about it. It was time to attack so Sam Houston and his troops snuck up Santa Anna and his troops and by the time the battle was over it took Sam Houston and his troops to kill every Mexican troop in 18 minutes.
