Storyboard Text

  • Ag Revolution (1850)
  • YAY! More horses!
  • Not again.
  • Homestead Act (1862)
  • I can't believe all of this was free!
  • Post-War in the South (1865-)
  • Yay!
  • I don't need you anymore!
  • Beginning in the 1850's, agriculture had a revolution. Farmers started using better equipment and technology, and more railroads were built. (https://growinganation.org/content/show-content/the_seeds_of_change/)
  • In 1862, the Homestead Act arose. It gave 160 acres to all farmers that would farm it for 5 years, and the best part is: it was free! (https://growinganation.org/content/show-content/the_seeds_of_change/)
  • After the Civil War, farmers were going through a hard time because they lost most of their resources to the war. However, steam tractors became available after 1868, and farmers were able to work an acre in 30 minutes. (https://growinganation.org/content/show-content/the_seeds_of_change/)
