As John was talking, I could not help but focus on the amazing smell of pizza. I also could not help feeling the deep tear on my jeans from last night. As I stared at the clock showing ten-fifty, I braced for the bell to go off. As soon as John finished I announced that the clock was going to go off. After the bell went off, I rushed out the door.
I rushed down the hall and felt the rush of the air against my body. I saw and heard John struggling with his books in his locker then slammed it shut as I went by. He yelled my name as we followed the others down the hall. There was commotion as the doors were opened. I hear the seconds tick by before my turn. The smell of pizza strengthened as I barreled through the doors.
John was far down the cafeteria as I yelled his name. Then, a wave of yelling students sat down at the farthest table. Once John sat down, we got our cheesy pizza and ate. We could barely hear each other as we talked over the loud crowd. After we ate, we talked about where to meet after school when I thought about the shining new park in town. Once the lunch bell rang, we went to our separate classes for the rest of the day.
