Storyboard Text

  • Run-off
  • First off, there is run-off, when trees and other plants can't hold anymore water, the water just keeps going, and travels into streams, rivers or lakes.
  • Transpiration
  • Second, is transpiration. This starts when trees, like these, absorb rain water.
  • They "drink" the water that is rained down from the sky until they can't hold anymore.
  • Evaporation
  • The sun is the main source of energy for evaporating water particles. The sun heats them up until they become a gas, or water vapor, and float up to the sky.
  • Condensation
  • Water vapor evaporates into the atmosphere. When water particles cool this is called condensation. This is how clouds are formed.
  • Precipitation
  • Atmosphere
  • The atmosphere is where all the gases are. This is also where clouds are made and where rain comes from.  There are four layers of the atmosphere.
  • Precipitation is when water droplets fall from the sky. Otherwise know as rain, and when they get really cold they can be snow and hail. Then it starts all over again.
