  • After a while the Pope decided to  make it so only the Pope could appoint bishops and Charlamane did not like this. In rebuttle he appointed his own bishop becsuse he thought it as his own right as emporer to make bishops. After this the Pope and the King were in a deep conflict.
  • As a result of the King making his own bishop against the Pope's rule he was excommunicated him and he was posted as an outcast. After that the Pope freed his subjects from him so they were no longer loyal unless they wanted to be. Their actions split the people between the King and Pope and would be like this till the end of the conflict.
  • As the conflict ended the Pope let the King offer feifs of land for loyalty of the bishops but he could not appoint them himself. The people dident have to choose between the two rulers so they were put more at ease. The conflict was not over though and it still went on till the King and Pope died.
