Storyboard Text

  • Today, I will be asking you how to add, subtract, divide, and multiply integers.
  • Adding Integers is that if it has 2 of the same signs, it would be a positive number, if opposite then it would be negative.
  • An example of adding integers would be -5+6=-1 and -5+(-5)=-10.
  • Right, catching on fast.
  • For subtracting, you would keep, change, and flip.
  • So that means you can do -5-(5) and you would get -10 and 5-5=0.
  • So if you multiply -5 x 5 = -25, then to divide, you would do -25 x 5=-5.
  • and, -5x(-5)=25, 5x(-6)=-30, -25 x 5 = -5, -25 x -5 = 5, 25 x 5 = -5... x= divide.
  • Multiplying and dividing integers are the easiest. All you have to do is switch the answer with the first number in the equation.
  • Right again.
  • My mother once told me that it means the actual number regardless of its signs.
  • Now you know everything about intgers. Here is one question though, do you know what absolute value is?
  • Very good. Thats all for today. Visit us next time with "Talking with Math."
