The Battle of Marathon wasn in 490 BCE. It was the second battle of the Greek and Persian war. The Persians were led by Artaphernes with 90,00 men at battle. The Greeks were led by Miltiadies with only 10,000 - 20,000 men at battle.
Even though the Greeks didn't have enough people in the battle, they had very good supplies. For example, bronze and phalanx. They used their supplies in the battle. It was no match for the Persians.
When the Persians and the Greeks started fighting, the Persians were no match for the Greeks. The Greeks had a strategy that worked on the Persians.
At the end of the battle, the Greeks took the victory. 6,400 Persians were killed. Only 192 Greeks were dead. This battle became a legend in the Greek and Persian War. The Persians on the other hand, are planning their revenge.
