  • in 1917 a man named Jones invented the dubble cross, a methed of hybrid seed production, used to make corn from the small ears we hear about of see to the big ears we have today
  • farming after the war, 40's
  • the quality of life for rual households during the 1920's was lower than those in the city making farmers envy city life.
  • the cold war hears up 1950's
  • during the 1930's the nation had a devistating drought. dust storms swept away vunarable layers of topsoil from Texas, Oklahoma and many other states. the storms were made worse by the practice of plowing fields.
  • modernization of farming
  • when WW2 ended technological advances that were developed for war were transitioned into civil socity.farms were industrialized for several reasons, chemical technology and inexpencive nitrogen fertilizers were created to bost production in agriculture.
  • during the cold war president truemen ordered for better ag production for the war
  • farming in the 50's the avarage farm was 213 acres but in the 60's it jumped to 297 and growing, and the introduction of the cotten picker was intordused.
