  • Mathilada is a young woman in 1800's france married to a clerk.Mathilda dreams of a life full of riches and thought she belonged to a higher station.Until her husband gives her an invitation to a ball .

  • Mathilde said she had nothing to put on to go to the ball and begged her husband to get her a new gown which her husband buys her.Then mathilde asked for jewelery in which her hasband said to borrow some jewelery from her friend .When mathilde visits her friend she sees some jewelery but none cath her interest except a diamond necklace which her friend lets her borrow.

  • The day of the ball arrives and Mathilde is excited and is a great success in the ball showing off.She danced vigorously and finally by the end of the ball she and her husband started to find a cab and eventually they found one and went home.Once they got home Mathilde realized that she had lost the necklace and could not find it.

  • Mathilde went looking for a necklace that looked exactly like the original and eventually they found one but it cost 3,600 francs. Her husband bought it and Mathilde gave Mme Foreister the necklace and Mme Forestier didn't realize the difference. Mathilde and her husband now had to pay of their debt so they moved into a smaller house and Mr.Loisel had to work twice as hard at work while Mathilde helps take care of the house for ten years.
  • After ten years Matilde walks through the park clear her mind. As she's walking through the park Matilde sees Mme Forestier and She didn't recognize matilde at first until Matilde clarified it was her. Mathilde reminices of the times they had and remebered the necklace where matilde explained that she lost the original necklace and bought her a new one When Mme foreister explains that the real necklace was paste.
