But after Demeter left to tend to her garden, Persephone was approached by Zeus. He told her of the many struggles of her journey to get the precious flower in her hands. Demeter had not known that the great Zeus was watching over her with sadness that she did not understand why she was giving her gift to Persephone. Persephone was shocked that her mother would hide this from her and ran off to go find her beloved mother.
Persephone found her mother watering some peach trees. "Mother," she says, " I know of your... adventures and how much time and effort you put in this flower, and I love it very much, but you didn't have to do all this!" "But I did this so you could be happy with my gift! I wanted it to be the most perfect present I could ever give you!
"And I understand that mother, but sometimes it's not the gift that counts, just the person who found it in her heart to give it." Persephone kissed her mother on the cheek and left Demeter to dwell on her words.
