The scene where the judges refuse to take back their guilty verdicts against people because it would make them look bad. This scene shows how Danforth rather hang people than making himself look foolish. Danforth chose his reputation and not the people.
The scene in Act Ⅲ, abigail and the other girls claimed to see a bird that wanted to destroy her face. This made everyone go into a frenzy. They start to accused Mary Warren of being a witch. Every time Mary says something the girls copy her to make it look like she is controlling them. This makes the people around them go crazy.
during act one abigail lied about why she and the girls were dancing and saying that witches caused them to dance, drink blood, and dance naked around a pot but in reality abigail danced and drank blood to get rid of Elizabeth.
The scene in Act Ⅲ when john says “that’s a whore’s revenge” is an example of the theme Revenge. He says that because Abigail stabbed herself with a needle and said that Elizabeth was the one who did it with her witch powers.
The scene in ActⅠwhen Abigail and John Proctor were alone together is an example of Lust. John and Abigail had an affair. In act l, Abigail thinks that John Proctor loves her and tells him that she wants him back.
The Scene in act Ⅳ when John decided to rip the paper to save his name is a good example of Pride.After John Proctor finished signing the confession he snatches it away from Danforth. He said that the village doesn’t need the proof that he signed, god already knows his sins. He doesn’t want the confession his name even more than what it already is.
