The Sins of The Aral Sea By:Axel Arriaga and Robert Hanks
A few years ago The Aral Sea was once a thriving ecosystem home to hundreds of native fish and plants. But then one man almost destroyed it all.
After the Uzbek S.S.R. joined the Soviet empire their leader Joseph Stalin turned the region into a giant cotton plantation by by digging canals from the Amu and Syr Darya rivers.
After a while the ecosystem was sustainable but then Stalin started building more canals then the ecosystem was thrown out of wack and the Aral sea started to dry up,now it's nothing but a desert now.
