Yeah it's amazing! Hopefully it doesn't end up like the Aral Sea...
In the early 1960s, the decision was made to turn Central Asia republics into cotton plantations. The problem was that the climate in this part of the world is not suited for this kind of crop, so another decision was made to hand dig irrigation canals that reach the Aral sea. It worked up until they started to add more canals and that really made the Aral sea's water level drop.
Wow... I hope this doesn't happen here
Yeah I hope so too
The water level of the Aral sea dropped again and caused the Aral to split into 2, and the split once more. Then in last July, the southern part dried up completely
