Japan was trying to expand their power & country so the American army moved their ships, air crafts towards the pearl harbor and the point where japan was assumed to attack and japan assumed that as a threat so they attacked

Responding to Japanese occupation of key airfields in Indochina following an agreement between Japan and Vichy France, the U.S. froze Japanese assets on July 26 and on August 1 established an embargo on oil and gasoline exports to Japan.

The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor with torpedo planes in waves, bombs were dropped in the "Battleship Row." The U.S ships were hit, and destroyed only a few survived the attack, if ships made it the Japanese planes came back to finish it

Japan had gotten upset with the decision by America to not trade with them so they were going to attack them.
The United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan. FDR made a speech about the attack after it was over
All Japanese owned businesses were shut down and many were arrested for being considered dangerous to the community. Residents were fingerprinted and issued to carry around identification cards, they were not allowed to carry more than $200 in cash
